Dance of the Vampires - the new winter season opens at new years eve!

In this winter season debut our new Herbert, Máté Kamarás, who played this role in 1997, Vienna too. His first show will be on 4th January, 19:30. His further shows: 5th, 6th, 7th January.

Hungarian Vampires in the Oberhausen Premiere

Following Vienna, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Warsaw, Berlin and Budapest, the rightly world famous and popular musical of Roman Polanski is to be premiered again.

The vampires of the Hungarian production attracted the attention in Germany: two singers and three dancers received an invitation to perform in the brand-new Oberhausen production. Tímea Kecskés (in the part of Magda), Tibor Héger (Alfred), Dániel Rákász, Dávid Baranya and Lajos Túri solo dancers will start rehearsals right after the performances of August and will perform eight times per week from November 9 onwards in Germany.

Edit Simon, producer of the Hungarian production feels honoured to give her vampires the chance to prove abroad as well. At the same time Hungarian fans can heave a sigh of relieve: their favourites will still keep on performing on local stage as the Budapest performances will take precendence during its seasons.

The next ball season of Hungarian Vampires is going to start on August 22 in Pesti Magyar Theatre.

The rehearsals of Dance of the Vampires have startedunder the direction of Cornelius Baltus. Cornelius has also put the original Vienna-version of Roman Polanski's musical on stage in Stuttgart, Hamburg, Warsaw and Berlin. Kati Heidelbrecht, assistant of Dennis Callahan has arrived, whose task is to prepare dance scenes before Callahan takes over the direction of coreography. Kati is the dance captain of the Berlin performance, Tanz der Vampire.

Huge interest in the Budapest premiere of Dance of the Vampires:
Since October 2006 the website of the production has attended nearly 200 thousand visitors from all around the world - from Östersund, Sweden to Christchurch, New Zealand; from Sapporo, Japan to Vancouver, Canada.

Lifetime Archievement Award to Roman Polanski

In recognition of his outstanding dedication to cinema, Roman Polanski, who took artistic responsibility for the Hungarian production of the musical Dance of the Vampires to be introduced in June 30, 2007, will receive the European Film Academy Award Lifetime Archievement at the European Film Awards on December 2 in Warsaw. more »

Vampires adopt Bendeguz, the bat
The Ensemble of Dance of the Vampires production - which was recently opened in Budapest with a great success - adopt Bendeguz, the lonely bat of the Budapest Zoo. The Zoo Foundation has been collecting donations for 15 years by symbolically adopting the animals to the public. The dwellers of the zoo have already 10.000 forster-parents, among which are many well known people. Why did the musical production chose Bendeguz? The bats could become vampires in many cultures because of their mystical or mystically held night life, while elsewhere they were identified as evil creatures, who clutch the girls' hair. The bad PR should not mislead anybody; they are very kind, cute, silly, lovely and fallible creatures. Bendeguz in this sense undoubtedly similar to the heroes of Roman Polanski, so the mutual sympathy between the little bat and the ensemble is quite understandable. The adoption will take place on 19th June 2007 at 14.00 pm in the Budapest Zoo, where the stage vampires - equipped with vampire teeth and bat cape - will meet their future relative. Upon this special occasion, 'Bendeguz Day' the Dance of the Vampires ensemble will host its friends, colleagues, the illustrious members of the Hungarian artist and media society in the evening show and the party afterwards, where they will clink and drink for Bendeguz's health with the stage vampires.
